The VSimulators team at the University of Bath welcomed Dr Roy Denoon, Vice President of CPP Wind Engineering and Air Quality Consultants. Dr Denoon is an industry-leading specialist in wind engineering for tall buildings, and is the co-chair of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats' Wind Engineering Working Group. Dr Antony Darby (Principal Investigator for Bath VSimulators) and Julie Lewis-Thompson (Commercial Manager) met with Dr Denoon, demonstrating key features of the University of Bath VSimulators platform.
University of Bath VSimulators offers a state-of-the-art environmental chamber, with projected virtual reality and a motion platform, for multi-disciplinary use to explore human-environment interactions. Research ideas include working in a high rise office building, enabling a client to explore a newly designed building, understanding human responses to changing environmental conditions or exploring the human physiological responses to the built environment. Dr Denoon was impressed by the combination of features, commenting on the opportunities the facility will create for both extensive research into human factor responses to the built environment and for commercial applications.
VSimulators at the University of Bath will open on 9th October 2019. The VSimulators facility at the University of Exeter will open in early 2020.
