Following a two year design process, to create the bespoke VSimulators motion platform for the University of Exeter, the component parts were manufactured and assembled by E2M Technologies in Amsterdam.
Last week, the VSimulators platform was switched on for the first time, giving us the chance to see the first set of moves. It almost gives the impression of breathing. A fantastic milestone in this project, focused on the delivery of a finely tuned motion platform, designed for a multiple audience immersed in a virtual reality environment. Further testing will continue over the next few weeks.
The next stage will see the VSimulators team attending the factory acceptance testing in Amsterdam, subsequently taking delivery of the equipment and installing it into the University of Exeter Engineering Research Centre at Exeter Science Park.
VSimulators at the University of Exeter will then be open for research collaborations and commercial use.
